Ndofaya Arts and Culture Company is initiating a Clap n Tap Annual Choral Festival that is focused on identifying talent, nurturing talent and showcasing talent to a wider audience, and giving a platform to young and upcoming artist from disadvantaged communities. This initiative is called Clap and Tap and dates back from the early 80s where the youth used to compete in community halls with self-composed songs. Clap n Tap composed a lot of gospel music which we sing in our churches today and also produced a lot of musicians. But even today, it’s one of the music genres that is less recognized in South African history. This initiative will help build capacity and bring about recognition to this genre from under privileged communities across the country.
