The Indigenous Gospel Music also known as Clap ‘n Tap and AmaZion is one of the City’s most unique offerings. It was initially an acapella-style music genre that has become a symbol of religious cultural expression. The genre will be celebrated as part of the 32nd Johannesburg Arts Alive International Festival programme on 15 & 16 February 2025. The festival targets the following gernes: AmaZion, AMapostolo including Clap n Tap, and Brass Bands.
The festival was opened to all Indigenous Choirs, locally and internationally.
The 11 choirs (i.e. 1 Headliner and 10 choirs per category will be performing.
• 15th February 2025: 5 Clap ‘n Tap and 5 AmaZion choirs, with Clap ‘n Tap as the headliner.
• 16th February 2025: 5 Clap ‘n Tap and 5 AmaZion choirs, with AmaZion as the headliner.
