1. General

This website and URL address, www.joburgtheatre.com, is owned by Joburg Theatre (Pty) Ltd (Joburg Theatre) and operated by Webtickets based in South Africa with registration number 2010/008653/07 and Jonathan Wayne and Christy Turner as directors. Webtickets provides access control, ticketing and membership management solutions to theatres, museums, cinemas and sports clubs. Webtickets operates this service on behalf of Joburg Theatre, and tickets purchased from this website are purchased from Webtickets as agent of Joburg Theatre. All terms and conditions displayed on this website are to be read together with any other policies and conditions displayed elsewhere on this website and with any terms and conditions that may be printed on the ticket or displayed at the entrance to the auditorium. By clicking the “I Accept” button at the end of these terms and conditions, you are giving your consent that Webtickets may use your personal information together with other information for providing services, marketing administration and training. You are further giving your consent that Webtickets may keep your information for a reasonable period for marketing purposes.

2. Joburg Theatre House Rules

The use of cameras, video, audio or visual recording equipment within the auditorium is strictly prohibited. Mobile phones, pagers and digital watches must be silenced/switched off prior to entering the auditorium. Smoking is only permitted within the theatre complex in designated smoking areas. Children under three years of age will not be admitted into the auditorium. Joburg Theatre reserves the right to:

  • Check that every patron has a valid ticket
  • Refuse admission of the ticket holder to the premises or request the ticket holder to leave the premises if due reason or cause is given
  • Make alterations to the advertised event programme, seating or cast in the event of an illness or unavoidable cause, without prior notice
  • Cancel or abandon, in extreme circumstances, any event or performance without notice. For cancellations every effort will be made to contact customers to notify them in advance
  • Not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to persons or property on or around the theatre complex
  • Require latecomers to wait until a suitable break in the event programme before entering the auditorium

3. Website

When you make a purchase on this website you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and policies displayed elsewhere on this website.

Webtickets, with the permission of Joburg Theatre, may alter or change the terms and conditions from time to time with 20 business days notice and by using this service you agree to be bound by any such alterations or changes and use of this website.

The images, text, logos and artwork contained in this website are copyrighted to Joburg Theatre and/or the licence owners and used by permission all rights reserved. Unauthorised use by way of copying, storage, reproduction, publishing electronically or otherwise, transmitting in any form or by any means in whole or in part is prohibited. This website is provided solely for your own use and you should not, without Webtickets’s written permission, transfer or sell or attempt to transfer or sell access to or use of this website (or any part or facility of it) or any of your rights or obligations under these terms and conditions to any other person.

Webtickets gives you no warranty or assurance about this website or its contents. Whilst Webtickets endeavours to maintain the accuracy and the quality of the information on this website, they may be incorrect or outdated and do not constitute definitive or complete information relating to an event or performance or any other subject matter.

4. Event Bookings

Each event or performance may have its own entry conditions and Webtickets recommends that you view these prior to purchasing tickets. They are usually available on the event advertising media or elsewhere on this website.

No order placed by you is deemed to be accepted by Webtickets until a written acknowledgement of order is issued by Webtickets and Webtickets has received the payment due.

You warrant that all information you give to Webtickets while using the website is correct. If the information changes prior to your attendance of the event or performance, it is your responsibility to notify Webtickets as soon as possible.

Joburg Theatre reserves the right to cancel or postpone an event or performance at any time prior to the event or performance taking place. Except as stated in Section 7, Webtickets is not liable to give any refund or exchange for any event or performance booked by you through the website.

By clicking the “I Accept” button at the end of these terms and conditions and by completing the booking form you are deemed to have made an offer to book an event or performance subject to these terms and conditions.

5. Tickets

It is your responsibility to check the information contained in the acknowledgement of order and that the ticket information is accurate prior to your attendance of the event or performance. On receipt of your confirmation e-mail, please check that your tickets are for the correct event or performance, date and time, as mistakes cannot necessarily be rectified on the day of the event or performance.

By purchasing tickets the e-mail account you nominate may receive information from Joburg Theatre or the event promoter relating to the event or performance you have purchased tickets for or other events they are producing. You may opt in or out of this mailing list at any time by following the unsubscribe directions.

It is illegal to re-sell tickets for profit or gain and any person or company attempting to do so may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Any such resale will render the booking void and the ticket holder may be refused entry into the auditorium.

Webtickets and Joburg Theatre reserve the right not to sell tickets to any person, agent or company.

Subject to availability and receipt of payment, requests will be processed within 1 day and delivery confirmed by way of e-mail containing the booking number.

Tickets may either be collected at the box office of Joburg Theatre or delivered as print@home tickets via e-mail.

If you are collecting your tickets from the box office please make sure you have your acknowledgement of order and your credit/debit card (used to make the booking) with you. You may collect your tickets from the box office at any time during office hours (i.e. 08h00 to 17h00) or one hour prior to the event or performance commencing.

6. Discounts and Concessions

All discounts are subject to availability where applicable and may be withdrawn at the discretion of Joburg Theatre without prior notice, and do not apply to tickets already purchased. Joburg Theatre reserves the right to introduce discounts and price changes without prior notice.

7. Refunds and Exchanges

Joburg Theatre does not offer the option to exchange tickets or refund money. Only in exceptional circumstances, as deemed appropriate by Joburg Theatre, will an exchange of ticket or refund be given.

Refund information for any event or performance will be posted in the news section of www.joburgtheatre.com when applicable.

7.1. Rescheduled event or performance.

Joburg Theatre reserves the right to alter the lineup, date, time and/or venue. If the event or performance is rescheduled then your ticket to the advertised event or performance will remain valid. If you cannot attend a rescheduled event or performance and you contact Webtickets in a timely manner and provide the original ticket(s) and proof of purchase, Webtickets will refund to you, within 30 days, the full ticket price less delivery or mail fees, if any.

7.2. Cancellation.

If the event or performance is cancelled because of the occurrence of any event beyond the control of Joburg Theatre then refunds shall be at Joburg Theatre’s sole and absolute discretion. If the event or performance is cancelled for any other reason, Webtickets will refund to you, within 30 days, the full ticket price less delivery or mail fees, if any, provided that the original ticket(s) and proof of purchase are presented.

7.3. No Show / Failure to collect tickets / Delivery fulfilment.

Webtickets fulfils its commitment to you for the sale of tickets by e-mailing the ticket to you or by making the ticket available at the box office for you to collect. If for any reason you are unable to collect all or part of your ticket(s) so purchased, Webtickets will not refund your purchase. If you would like to enquire about any unusual circumstance that you believe may warrant a refund outside of the terms and conditions stated herein, you should contact Webtickets immediately.

8. Responsible Party

Webtickets on behalf of Joburg Theatre takes responsibility for all aspects relating to the transaction including tickets sold on this website, customer service and support, dispute resolution and delivery of tickets. For inquiries or complaints regarding the sale and delivery of tickets through the website service please contact Webtickets on info@webtickets.co.za.

9. Privacy

Your privacy is respected and Webtickets is obliged to protect your privacy by law. Webtickets uses the latest security technology to ensure the protection of your details.

Your details will be stored by Webtickets separately from card details which are entered by you on iVeri’s secure site. For more detail on iVeri refer to www.iveri.com

Webtickets shall take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information. For the purpose of this clause, “personal information” shall be defined as detailed in The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA).

Information transmitted via the Internet is susceptible to monitoring and interception. You therefore transmit any information that may be confidential, proprietary or sensitive in nature entirely at your own risk and under no circumstances is Webtickets liable for any loss, harm or damage that you may suffer as a result thereof.

10. Payment

Payment may be made via American Express, Diners Club, Visa, MasterCard credit/debit cards into the Soweto Theatre bank account, the details of which will be provided on request.

Unless otherwise notified to you in writing before acceptance of the order the price of the ticket for the event or performance shall be the price set out on the Website at the time Webtickets accepts your order.

All prices of tickets quoted on the website are inclusive of Value Added Tax which amount will be payable by you.

You are required to pay the ticket price upon completion of the booking form.

11. Merchant Outlet country and transaction currency

The merchant outlet country at the time of presenting payment options to the cardholder is South Africa. The transaction currency is South African Rand (ZAR).

12. Security

Credit card transactions will be acquired for Webtickets via iVeri (Pty) Ltd who are the approved payment gateway for Nedbank of South Africa. iVeri uses the strictest form of encryption, namely Secure Socket Layer 3 (SSL3) and no credit card details are stored on the website. Users may go to www.iveri.com to view their security certificate and security policy.

At no stage does your credit/debit card number get collected or stored in Webtickets’s system. The only parties to receive the entire card number is Webtickets’s bank and iVeri.

13. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

This website and the information contained therein are provided “as is” and Webtickets makes no express or implied representations or warranties with regard thereto. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing:

  • Webtickets does not warrant that the website or information is error-free or meets any particular criteria of performance or quality. Webtickets expressly disclaims all implied warranties, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability, title, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, security and accuracy
  • Whilst Webtickets has taken reasonable measures to ensure the integrity of this website and its contents, no warranty, whether express or implied is given that any downloads or applications available via this website are free of viruses, Trojans, bombs, time-locks or any other data or code which has the ability to corrupt, damage or affect the operation of your system.

You acknowledge that any order that Webtickets accepts is to be performed and managed by a third party (i.e. Joburg Theatre , a theatre or production company) and that we have no control over the performance and/or quality of such an event or performance. Therefore all such bookings will be on the terms and conditions of the relevant event holder and we accept no liability in respect of any such event or performance.

Your use of this website or any products or services advertised on this website and the information contained therein is entirely at your risk and you assume full responsibility and risk of loss resulting from the use thereof. Webtickets is not liable for any damages whatsoever, including without limitation, any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, whether in an action arising from contract, statute, delict or otherwise, relating to the use of this website, the products and services advertised on this website or the information contained therein.

14. Fraud Policy

This policy is designed to protect the interests and security of Joburg Theatre.

14.1. When Ordering

Webtickets may record your host name, IP address and the time and date of the purchase to assure safety and security in completing any order via the website. Webtickets may use this information for prosecution purposes. This information is only collected for fraud prevention and will not be sold / disclosed to any third party. Our on-line processing gateway automatically checks the database of your credit or debit card provider for reported lost or stolen card numbers and to verify against information from credit or debit card providers that informs Webtickets of lost, stolen and continual chargeback credit or debit card numbers. Webtickets may also call you on the telephone to verify your identity .

14.2. When You deny or dispute a charge

If you dispute a charge, you should contact Webtickets immediately. Any person(s) committing fraud on this website may be dealt with to the highest penalty allowable under law, without exception. If you falsely dispute a charge or falsely deny a payment on your credit card, Webtickets will institute legal proceedings against you to recover the amount disputed, plus interest and attorney and own client costs. Credit card fraud is a serious offense and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

15. Country of domicile

This website is governed by the laws of South Africa and Webtickets chooses as its domicilium citandi et executandi for all purposes under these terms and conditions, whether in respect of court process, notice or other documents or communication of whatsoever nature, Webtickets, Cape Living Building 21 Pepper Street, South Africa.
